FRANK Billingsley is currently the longest-running TV weatherman in Houston, bringing weather reports to Channel 2 viewers for over three decades. The beloved meteorologist, who often shared tidbits of his personal life along with his weather forecasts , will be leaving KPRC 2 News just months after another KPRC meteorologist, Khambrel Marshall, announced his retirement in November 2023. Frank Billingsley didn't provide a reason for leaving Houston's NBC affiliate, where he had been working for 30 years.
“I'm going to take a break and see what it's like not to wear a suit five days a week!” Billingsley said, as reported by Culture Map Houston . Billingsley revealed that his last day at the station would be June 28, 2024. As for what he plans to do in his "retirement," Billingsley said that he hopes to keep busy.
“I love all forms of communication so I'm sure I'll gravitate toward that either as a hobby or a second act," he said. "I'll weigh options and go from there," he added. Billingsley also noted that while he would stop reporting Houston's weather, he had no intention of moving himself or his family out of the area.
"I can tell you that we have no intention of ever leaving Houston. It's our home.” After spending 42 years as a broadcaster, Billingsley has many memories to reminisce on, but he shared one particular weather report that has remained ingrained in his mind.
He recalled a tornado that was about to strike during a 1992 college football game , with Texas .
