Rumours are swirling that Lottie Ryan will be leaving her new 2FM Drivetime slot after just one month behind the mic alongside co-host David O’Reilly. Here’s everything we know about her tipped replacement Kayleigh Trappe. While there has been no official confirmation, reports circulated on Monday morning that Lottie has been axed from 2FM’s flagship Drivetime show.
Along with actor David O’Reilly, Lottie was given the task of helping RTÉ’s Drivetime slot remain the station’s biggest show in the wake of the the 2 Johnnies exit at the end of May. An insider said that there is a feeling that her being given the job in the first place ‘was just spin to distract from Doireann Garrihy and The 2 Johnnies walking away from 2FM’ and that the press release and hurried photoshoot was arranged without her consent. Lottie herself hasn’t spoken out as of yet, but she is said to be ‘devastated’ and ‘feels used’ by the radio station.
A source told The Sun: ‘Lottie was used by RTÉ to get them out of a mess of bad publicity. She never had any problem filling in for anybody. She did nine months on Breakfast Republic filling in for Jennifer Zamparelli who was on maternity leave.
‘But this was sold to the country as Lottie finally getting her own show and replacing The 2 Johnnies. She is now going to be axed.’ According to reports, TikTok star Kayleigh Trappe will be replacing Lottie Ryan on 2FM’s Drivetime and could be joining co-host David O’Reilly as ea.
