Photo: AFP As the first openly gay Republican to be elected to Congress, the 35-year-old recently posted his opinions about Pride Month on X (formerly Twitter). But that doesn’t top the most shocking news about him, which emerged in late 2022: within weeks following his election in November, numerous news outlets reported that much of his biography was fabricated.

The New York Times reported that he admitted to lying about his education and employment history. Santos then became the sixth person in history to be expelled from Congress in December 2023 after an exposé revealed he had spun a web of lies and exaggerations on the campaign trail. {"@context":"https://schema.
