has come under fire plenty of times for their controversial acts on the show. But it’s fair to say the most controversial winner to steal the £250,000 cash prize and the coveted spot on Royal Variety Performance was Viggo Venn. The Norwegian comic won the talent competition last year, but it's fair to say he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
The 35-year-old launched onto our screens in a hi-vis jacket for his slapstick routines, which often featured a giant balloon. Despite being branded “the most stupid act we’ve had this year” and being booed by some member of the audience during his final performance, the clown went on to win the show. He went on to perform for Prince William and Kate later that year at the Royal Albert Hall despite fans begging him not to turn up.
Speaking about his victory last year, he chuckled: “I think it’s hilarious. I’m not British, I don’t have talent, and I won Britain’s Got Talent.” Now, as the series gears up for another epic series finale, the Daily Star has taken a deep dive into what happened to the comic one year on.
Loyal fans of the show will remember Viggo received a standing ovation for his first performance on Britain’s Got Talent. Fans saw him dance along to Daft Punk’s hit One More Time as he removed an endless number of hi-vis vests. Another performance saw the graduate from the French clown school École Philippe Gaulier use recordings of the judges saying their names on a loop to Eminem’s number one sing.
