Pat Sajak is preparing to leave Wheel of Fortune after more than four decades with his final show looming on the horizon. The 77-year-old announced he would be leaving his long-standing post last June, marking a year to his retirement. Now, fans are just days away from seeing their beloved game show host’s final day on the CBS show and to mark the occasion they have created a countdown clock.

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest is set to take over the iconic role in September as the fall season starts. Viewers have also been theorizing about how the show could possibly pay tribute to Pat’s stellar career over 43 years on Wheel of Fortune.



Understandably, the host’s staggering contribution to the show could not be contained in just one episode, so the network has reportedly opted for a week-long celebration of the TV star. The lengthy goodbye will be called Thanks for the Memories, featuring a series of tributes throughout and ending on June 7. Pat first joined the show in late 1981 after the first-ever host, Chuck Woolery’s, contract ran out and was not renewed due to a salary dispute.
