Koeing appeared as a special guest for the band's final three songs of their set at the indie festival Vampire Weekend ‘s Ezra Koenig recently joined Phoenix on stage during their set at this year’s edition of Just Like Heaven festival. While performing at the indie festival at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, Thomas Mars and co. brought out Koenig towards the end of their set as a surprise guest.
The French frontman noted that the band is currently recording a new album but might not return to the U.S. for “another few years, maybe less”.
Mars then went on to say: “Now that I’ve bummed you out, there’s some cheering up coming so you’ll see.” Koeing then came out to perform ‘Tonight’ their collab from Phoenix’s latest album ‘Alpha Zulu ‘. The Vampire Weekend frontman then brought out his guitar and joined in on the band’s 2009 classic hit ‘1901’ and their final song of the night ‘Identical (Reprise)’.
Last month, Mars joined Vampire Weekend during their special gig to mark the recent total solar eclipse . They performed ‘Tonight’, marking the first time the pair have performed the song live together.
