THE Gathering viewers were left unimpressed as they blast the Channel 4 thriller’s finale for ruining the series. The hit drama starred the likes of former Waterloo Road actress Vinette Robinson and Saltburn star Sadie Soverall in leading roles. Last night saw the final episode of The Gathering air on the commercial network.
Throughout the six episode run, viewers have followed the story of a violent attack on a teenager at a beach rave. The programme is set in Liverpool and it featured some of the "toxic teenagers – and their even more toxic parents". Warren Brown starred as the father of main character Kelly, and he admitted that the cast didn't know the identity of attacker, even as they filmed the show.
However, viewers of Channel 4 were less than impressed with the last episode as the series drew to a dramatic conclusion. They took to X - formerly known as Twitter - in their droves as they slammed the ending of the show. One viewer noted: "Am I still watching the same drama called #TheGathering that started two weeks ago? It seems to have turned into something completely different.
" Another stated: "I've just finished this and I'm not sure if I like the ending. Its too neatly closed off 🤔." "Anyone else watched #TheGathering on 4? Really liked a lot of it then felt like the ending sort of drifted," penned a third fan.
Whilst a fourth asked: "Anyone else disappointed in that endin g?" And a fifth user added: "Just finished #TheGathering...
I liked it...
but the end.
