Controversial Nigerian activist, Martins Otse, better known as Verydarkman has reacted to his Trendupp influencers award ‘Force of Social Good’ category loss to Chess Master, Tunde Onakoya at the Trendupp Awards. had earlier reported that despite strong support from his fans, VDM was beaten by Tunde Onakoya, who founded Chess in the Slum and set a Guinness World Record for 58 hours of continuous chess. Following his win, VeryDarkMan’s supporters are outraged, alleging he was robbed, while critics are mocking him.

In response, Verydarkman released a video shrugging off the loss, emphasizing that his social media activism is driven by passion, not a desire for awards. He revealed he was unaware of his nomination and is too busy with his activism to attend award ceremonies, showing a defiant nonchalance towards the controversy. He said; “Wetin I wan use award do? What do you people think we do here? Award night? People are going through pain, in prison, etc.
