The broadcaster, 62, detailed the incident during an appearance on Wednesday's This Morning, explaining that Allegra, 36, had fallen over an 'uneven slab of pavement' while walking home from work. She told hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley : 'She went flying on an uneven slab of pavement.

'She hurtled through the air and we think that she hit her face as she fell on another sticking up, jagged, uneven slab of pavement.' Cat and Ben were visibly shocked as Vanessa shared her daughter was 'extremely badly injured' and was left lying in 'a spreading pool of her own blood.' As Vanessa detailed her ordeal, she shared that Allegra was undergoing an MRI scan, as its believed that she has broken .
