The music of the Civil War will be the subject of a program Sunday, June 9, at the Frontenac Historical Society & Museum in Union Springs. At 7 that evening Jeff Stockham will present "Music and Muskets," in which the bandleader and instrument collector will show how the brutal conflict also nurtured the creation of music. Using rare original instruments and artifacts from the period, he will perform examples of bugle, drum, fife and brass band music that became part of the everyday life of the typical Civil War soldier.

Admission to the program is free and open to the public. The museum is located at 178 Cayuga St. For more information, call (315) 889-7273.
