THIS Morning star Alison Hammond has landed a big money deal - as she bags the leading role in panto. The TV presenter, 49, will be returning for a second year to play the Magical Mermaid in the high-flying panto adventure Peter Pan. It kicks off on 21 December and runs until 2 February 2025.

"I loved every second of Jack and the Beanstalk last year, we had so much fun, but it went by so fast that I had to come back for another. Birmingham is home to the best audiences, and I can’t wait to see them all in Neverland soon!” Her new gig comes after The Sun revealed that the BBC is ramping up its bid to poach Alison from ITV by offering her a travel show.

It could even air the daytime programme head-to-head in the same slot as its rival’s This Morning . Beeb bosses have already got her signed up for celebrity interview series Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend, where she spends 48 hours with a star to get a deep insight into their world. And the new travel show is the perfect job for Alison, 49, as she was a holiday rep before she had her first taste of fame as a contestant on Big Brother in 2002.
