The Triad has a second resident competing in the online Favorite Chef competition for a grand prize of $25,000. Sherrita Delacruz, 47, grew up in Greensboro and currently lives in High Point. But like the other contestant – Jon Berry, a kitchen manager at The Fresh Market – Delacruz also works in Greensboro.

She is an assistant manager at Cook Out, and has worked there on and off since 2008. She also has cooked at Print Works Bistro. More recently, Delacruz has been trying to build up her own business, sheshecookn.



“My nieces when they were young used to call me ‘sheshe.’ That’s where the name came from,” she said. Her business, which operates through social media, focuses on desserts and side dishes, and she specializes in vegan fare.

She started sheshecookn after losing her father and grandfather. “My grandfather and my dad died on the same day in 2020,” she said. “I had to find my way through my grief, and work my way back to food, which is my passion.

” Delacruz – who’s also involved in area poetry slams – said that sheshecookn is a creative outlet for her, just like poetry. “I basically create dishes to give people same experience that I have through my love for food.” Sheshecookn (@sheshecookn on Instagram) accepts custom orders and also offers up regular menus for pickup or delivery.
