DALLAS — We have officially reached the beginning of our triple-degree summer heat ! With Independence Day celebrations starting this weekend, expect a sunny holiday with plenty of events to keep you entertained. Or, if you’re interested in beating the heat somewhere air conditioned, check out the final Pride Month events, free movie screenings and even an iconic Dallas band’s reunion concert. Here’s a look at what is happening this weekend.
The final weekend of Pride Month events is ending on a strong note with Club Dada’s 18+ Stonewall Pride event. The celebration features drag performances from local queens MayMay Graves, Salem Moon and Barbie Davenport Dupree, and drag king Buck Wylde. There will also be live music from artists Dezi 5, Smothered, Viktoria XO and Zeke Forever.
The show starts at 6:45 p.m. and tickets are still available for $20 before taxes and fees.
Other events: Fourth of July celebrations are starting early this Saturday with plenty of events scattered throughout DFW. Klyde Warren Park is hosting their own with food trucks, live music, family-fun programming and grand finale fireworks. The outdoor event is free and open to the public.
While the event programming does not begin until 7 p.m., the park opens at 6 a.
m. and seating is first-come, first-served. The fireworks display at 9:40 p.
m. will be launched from the East and West sides of the park and from the roof of the Dallas Museum of Art. Other events: Texas Christian University is hosting.
