DALLAS — The summer solstice on Thursday marks the longest day of the year and the start of a weekend full of fun events! After a few days of overcast weather, ring in the first weekend of summer with continued Juneteenth programming, local film festivals and community sporting events. There’s plenty to do in DFW to celebrate the new season and sunny weather ahead. The 13th annual Oak Cliff Film Festival premieres this weekend with an opening night screening of the 2023 documentary “Omar and Cedric: If This Ever Gets Weird.

” The festival is hosting all-day programming through Sunday including screenings, workshops, parties and more. Founded in 2011, the annual festival began as a regional film festival in Oak Cliff but has since expanded to venues across Dallas. This year’s programming includes screenings at the Texas Theatre, The Kessler Theater, Kidd Springs Park and the Oak Cliff Cultural Center.



Moviegoers can buy tickets for individual screenings at the door for each venue or online for $13. For those looking for a more extensive cinematic experience, VIP badges are still available for purchase. These passes cost $225 and provide access to all screenings, music shows and extra events across the four-day festival.
