The Real Ting is run by husband and wife duo Albert and Lauren Vale. Albert, who is from Portland in Jamaica, moved to Wales four years ago and began the business during lockdown. The Real Ting opened in Cardiff Market on Tuesday and we went along to try it out.

We joined the queue and opted for the Portland bowl for £11, the fried chicken bowl for £10, fried chicken bites for £6, and ripe plantain for £3.50. We also picked up a natural juice for £3.
