THE CW has canceled the popular series Walker after just four seasons, according to reports and its lead star who shared the tough news with fans. Walker was a reboot of the 1990s western drama TV series Walker, Texas Ranger, starring Chuck Norris. On Tuesday, Variety reported that Walker has been canceled at The CW.
“We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” The CW said in a statement addressing the cancelation. “We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network," the statement continued. Jared led Walker in its titular role, which was a reimagining of Chuck Norris' character Cordell Walker in Walker, Texas Ranger.
The series followed Walker, "a widower and father of two with his own moral code," after he returned home to Austin, Texas. He spent two years undercover and discovered even harder work to do back home. Jared posted a separate statement on his personal Instagram account shortly after.
The Supernatural alum shared a photo of his cowboy hat with a hearfelt message. "Howdy y’all. It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you," he wrote.
