's 40th season has been filled with loads of backlash. The current season premiered last year September and ends in late July this year. Before the backlash and fan criticism over new rule changes and the many tournaments, the season began during WGA strike.

declined to host Celebrity Jeopardy! in solidarity during the WGA strike and host took over. Executive producer Michael Davies stated due to the desire for "more consistency," and they said they hoped to work with her in the future. But there have been a variety of changes that had fans particularly upset from categories titles to never ending tournaments.



Producers of the trivia game show made it requirement that players had to say the entire name of a category each time they selected a new clue. Contestant Daniel Nguyen who played in the Oct. 6, 2023 game confirmed the change in a Reddit thread "Good catch.

We were asked to say categories in their entirety. I think it’s to help remind the audience the category of each clue," he wrote. He later edited his response to clarify that was for the current season and how when he taped in Feb.

2022, they were told to abbreviate. During one episode, the category name was "During Lou Gehrig's Consecutive Game Streak" and was said fully each time which annoyed fans. "If you're going to make them slog through the entire category name every time, #Jeopardy, keep it to maybe three words tops," lambasted one fan.
