Tesco has changed its Sunday opening hours as 1,800 stores are affected by England reaching the Euro 2024 final. Tesco - which is rivalled by the likes of Sainsbury's , Asda , Morrisons and Lidl as well as Aldi - has said more than 1,800 of its Express stores will close at 7.30pm instead of the usual 10pm or 11pm.
It comes in a bid to give employees time to get home to watch the clash. Staff get paid as normal for these hours and those who don't want to watch the match will be also still be paid. Tesco Express stores will reopen as normal on Monday (July 15) at either 6am or 7am.
Larger Tesco stores will be shut during the Euros final regardless, due to Sunday trading hours. T esco's managing director of UK stores, Kevin Tindall, said: "We will be cheering on the Three Lions tonight against the Netherlands and hope they reach a second successive Euros final. We appreciate just how much this would mean to so many of our colleagues, and we want them to be able to celebrate with their family and friends.
