Swara Bhasker has now weighed in on the much-talked-about incident involving actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut being slapped by a CISF constable at Chandigarh airport. While Swara unequivocally condemned the act of violence, she didn't shy away from pointing out the glaring irony given Kangana's history of justifying violence on her social media platforms. The footage of this incident is alarming.
An attack on our elected Member of Parliament is an attack on the people of Mandi. This is a deeply worrisome incident that must be addressed immediately. — Nikhil saini (@iNikhilsaini) During an interview with Connect Cine, Swara was asked about her perspective on the incident, particularly in light of Kangana's subsequent comments about the lack of support from the film industry.
"Anybody who is a reasonable person will say that whatever happened with Kangana was wrong," Swara stated, referring to the June 6 incident. "There is nobody who will justify the violence or an act of assault which Kangana suffered. So yes, what happened with her was wrong and shouldn’t have happened.
It is not right to assault anyone." Swara, who has co-starred with Kangana in Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns, emphasized the broader context of violence in India. "Kangana just got slapped—and even that should not have happened—but at least she is alive, and has her security around.
In this country, people have lost their lives, they’ve been lynched to death, shot dead in a trai.
