Ahead of the release of ‘ Sarfira ’, the Hindi adaptation of her 2020 film ‘ Soorarai Pottru ’, Sudha Kongara talked about the differences between working with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and Tamil star Suriya . The director also highlighted the ways in which ‘Sarfira’ differs from what the audience has already watched in ‘Soorarai Pottru’. During a conversation with Galatta Plus, Sudha Kongara talked about how the Akshay-starrer is different from its Tamil version.
She shared that Akshay Kumar is a far more outgoing and ebullient person compared to Suriya, who according to her is more ‘intense, tight, quiet and gives that kind of a performance’. She also revealed that the scenes they both shot for are so different from each other as Akshay is flamboyant and Suriya is a lot more reserved. Sudha Kongara also remembered the actors' approach to the roles and their technique for handling each scene.
She said, “I think the processes were different but where it landed was the same. Because I know Suriya is a lot more prepared and he gets better with time. He keeps telling me I get better and better with each take.
But still we did just a couple of takes for Suriya, because we rehearsed it so much.” She also compared both the actor’s acting techniques and shared, “Whereas with Akshay sir, he always kept telling me that my first shot is my best shot. But, no.
I realised as he goes on with more takes, he gets better and better. I think we took about 5-6 ta.
