First revealed in , , the upcoming FPS based on the classic Starship Troopers movies, has been in early access for over a year. Now, it finally has a release date, and it's also coming to consoles with a new mode in store. Today during IGN Live, development team Offworld (along with Sony Pictures Consumer Products) announced that Starship Troopers: Extermination is officially headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 11.

It's also receiving a singleplayer campaign starring actor Casper Van Dien, who played protagonist Johnny Rico in the original films. General John "Johnny Rico" will command players, along with their three NPC allies original to the game, in the campaign. The mode will have 25 missions, with a second chapter on its way after launch.



Offworld also mentioned that crossplay will be enabled at launch. Additionally, the developer will soon share more information about the game's upcoming update, which is slated for release at the end of June. Starship Troopers: Extermination is a co-op PvE FPS game that lets up to 16 players recreate the action from the original movies and fight off seemingly endless alien bugs in several different modes.
