The Radio 2 host, 49, welcomed the pregnant woman into her home for six months, describing her as “part of the family now”. Cox explained to The Times how the front room in her home was transformed to accommodate her guest, saying: “We had a Ukrainian guest sleeping in there for six months. She had a baby recently.

“She’s part of the family now. I was at the birth and she came back here with her new-born, so this room has been very much a private area for this mum and baby.” The radio host, who has three teenage children, Lola, 19, Isaac, 16, and Renee, 14, mentioned that the room needed redecorating after her guest moved out.

“When she left, it needed to be rebirthed itself and begin its story again,” she said. Cox is just one of many celebrities who opened their homes up to refugees who fled Ukraine following the Russian invasion in 2022. Chris Tarrant , Rachel Riley, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rod Stewart and Tory MPs Matt Hancock and Grant Shapps also hosted.

Tarrant told MailOnline in February of the refugees he hosted: “There are three of them: a grandmother, a mum, and her baby daughter. They came to live with us when the baby was just seven months old. I've moved them into a nice flat I got for them about 18 months ago.
