RTE duo The 2 Johnnies left their fans 'sobbing' as they bid farewell to 2FM. The lads — Johnny ‘Smacks’ McMahon, 33, and Johnny ‘B’ O’Brien, 38, left their weekday 2FM show, Drive It with The 2 Johnnies , this evening. The pair, who hosted the afternoon show on weekdays from 3pm to 6pm, left the station today after a "successful" two and a half years on air.
Emotions ran high in the RTE studio as special guests rang in to wish the pair well during their final radio show. The Tipperary friends got emotional as the show came to an end, and they received a sweet surprise from their mums. Their co-host Aifric O'Connell began to choke up as she said: "Lads before we go, we've been getting voice notes from people all day - and your mam wants to congratulate you.
" Johnny O'Brien's mum said: "Hello The 2 Johnnies, this is Johnny B's mammy here. I want to let you know how much we'll all miss you on 2FM in the afternoons. "You were so funny and entertaining and always great craic.
We're very proud of you and wish you all the best in the future." Johnny McMahon's mum then added: "Hi John, it's mammy 'Smacks' here, just want to say I'm going to miss you so much. "If I didn't get my daily phone call from you I could always tune into 2FM and all would be forgiven then.
"I want to wish you so much luck in your future career and I'm sure you'll smash it as always, love you - start the mixer." The comedians were completely blown away by all the tributes that they received during .
