Roman Kemp, the familiar face of The One Show and ex-Capital FM DJ, has spoken about his personal battles with depression and ADD over the past 16 years. Towards the end of last year, the star found himself in hot water after comments about his dad's social life were misconstrued. He clarified that he didn't mean to offend by saying his father, Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet and EastEnders fame, "does not have one friend".

The broadcaster, 31, opened up to Radio Times about his father's "lonely" existence, stating that the bassist's world revolves around his wife, Shirlie Kemp. Following backlash, Roman has now addressed the issue, explaining his point of view more clearly. In a heart-to-heart with Closer magazine this week, Roman explained: "I've gotten a lot of stick because I ended up saying that my dad has no friends, which he doesn't.



But it goes back to that thing of, 'What is your happiness in life?" He initially made the statement while discussing the loneliness that can accompany fame, but was quick to stress that it wasn't intended as a "sob story for famous people". Roman also reflected on why his dad might lead such a private life, suggesting that past betrayals by those he thought he could trust have shaped his current social circle.
