For delivering outstanding tribute shows, has a reputation, having previously celebrated the legacy of Queen, ABBA, Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Beatles, Elton John, and more. With such a storied history, the pressure is undoubtedly on to uphold their standard of excellence and pay homage to the iconic rock band in a manner befitting their legendary status. Last 23 May, we arrived at Radisson Blu with huge expectations, and we were not disappointed.
The place was buzzing like crazy. It was tribute night, and Queen was the star of the show. People were decked out in their best Queen-inspired getups, from Freddie’s flashy outfits to Brian’s rocker chic.
It was like a mini Queen convention! Inside the ballroom, the atmosphere was already electric, and the show hadn’t even started. The air was filled with chatter and laughter as people mingled over the dinner buffet and drinks. Then, it was showtime.
The lights dimmed, the music started, and suddenly, we were transported back in time to the heyday of Queen. The Pure Queen tribute band took the stage, and they absolutely crushed it. Mark Sanders as Freddie Mercury? The guy had the voice, moves and charisma for days.
It didn’t take long for people to get up on their feet and start dancing. As they launched into ‘We Will Rock You,’ ‘Pressure,’ ‘Don’t Stop Me Now,’ and more of the band’s greatest hits, the room erupted. Everyone was having such a good time, having a ball.
People were singing along at the t.
