Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have opened up about the reality of working together as a married couple, which often meant having to fake chemistry after a "blazing row" before the live show commenced. During the days when the couple presented This Morning , they fronted the show five days a week commuting back and forth from Manchester to Liverpool before the show made a move to London. As well as their on-screen duties and 40-mile daily commute, they were also juggling their young family which Judy describes as a "very intense" time, in their new Channel 5 documentary titled Richard & Judy: Our Best Bits - In Our Own Words.
No strangers to being candid, the couple admitted that while they were often praised for their on-screen chemistry, viewers would pick up on when they had an argument beforehand, as they knew the pair so well. Reflecting on this period, Judy said: "It was exhausting, I think we did it because we were together and it became a part of our daily lives, we kind of propped each other up a bit." Richard went on to say that while it was a "very demanding" schedule, it also had its positives and gave them time to talk about the show and put an end to any arguments they had at home.
He shares: "I know it was very demanding with the drive from Manchester to Liverpool and back again, particularly the first thing in the morning was often a bit trying, but it had its upside, you know, because it meant that we could talk about the show together in privacy driving o.
