Welcome to Seven in Seven, where we look at shows coming to the region over the next week. As always, whether your musical tastes are rock ’n’ roll, jazz, heavy metal, R&B, singer-songwriter or indie, there will always be something to check out. Here are seven of the best on the docket for the week of June 21: Ocean Alley — Friday at The Theatre of Living Arts Beloved Australian rock outfit Ocean Alley comes to town on the heels of the December resurgence of their 2018 six-times ARIA Platinum hit “Confidence,” led by the Behind Every Girl TikTok trend, which spawned billions of views, the audio being used over 110,000 times and over 1 million streams of the track per day.
It’s been a busy 12 months overall for the group, proving themselves to be one of Australia’s most exciting musical exports with their dynamic live performances, infectious melodies and faultless musicianship. The Ocean Alley catalog is approaching a billion streams, with nine singles accredited in Australia and New Zealand with sales certified Gold or higher. Future Islands — Friday at Franklin Music Hall Back in January, Future Islands released their seventh studio effort, “People Who Aren’t There Anymore,” which heralded a new chapter for the Baltimore synthpop act who, despite having formed nearly two decades ago, continue to challenge themselves and each other.
Where they’ve pursued ever-higher energy anthems in the past, they’ve turned inward this time and unlocked a new level.
