had to apologise after a co-star shut him down over a huge blunder. The TV star was back on screens on Sunday (June 2) to appear on Sunday Brunch. Joining Richard, was the likes of Alex Scott, Fern Brady and Rag’n’Bone Man.
But things took an awkward turn just minutes in after Richard made an awkward gaffe. So much so, that he was forced to apologise. After the panel discussed football, Richard said: “The curse of being the oldest person in the room these days, is that I’m usually the only person that can actually remember England winning the World Cup.
Stunned, host Tim Lovejoy chimed in and said: “Were you?” Richard then replied: “Yeah I was 10. I watched it on telly at home." He continued: “The problem with that, is that it sets you up for life thinking England are going to win!" The former star added: "So you have a lifetime of disappointment ahead of you.
” However, Alex Scott was quick to correct Richard. She turned to him and said: “I mean, we’re lucky, a couple years ago, the Lionesses won.” Straight away Richard quipped: “True, oh I do apologise.
” Talking over him, Alex said: “So to see them win at Wembley was like, another moment”. Red-faced, Richard went on: “Yes, of course. I should have thought of that," as the hosts attempted to move swiftly on.
