PORTLAND, Ore. — One of the biggest events of the year in Portland kicks off this Friday: the Portland Rose Festival . It's packed with three parades and a fair spanning three weekends, along with chances for friendly competition.
The Rose Festival has been held for over a century. It was designated as the official festival of the city of Portland in 2010. Here's a look at some of the main festival events and when they are scheduled.
When: May 24-June 9, hours vary (contingent on weather) Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park A myriad of fair festivities are coming to Portland's waterfront! From carnival rides and foods, to interactive exhibits and live music, there will be plenty of things to do and see. The fun officially starts at 5 p.m.
on Friday, May 24, with a fireworks show beginning around 9:50 p.m. between the Morrison and Hawthorne bridges.
The CityFair takes place over three full weekends. The Talbott Brothers, Haley Johnsen and Lo Steele are among the local artists performing in the CityFair Concert Series. Tickets are required.
Kids ages six and under can attend for free.
