PLAYSTATION held its State of Play showcase last night, announcing a number of new games coming to PS5, PS VR2 and PC this year. One of the highlights of the 35-minute presentation was a new game that will bring back a beloved Sony character. 3 Astro Bot is coming to PS5 in September, bringing back the now-iconic PlayStation mascot Credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment 3 The game will be full of references to other PlayStation characters and series, such as God of War’s Kratos Credit: Sony Interactive Entertainment Astro Bot will be the next game to feature cute robot Astro, who has become the de facto PlayStation mascot this generation.

The upcoming game will span six galaxies and over 80 levels, featuring a variety of biomes and nods to other PlayStation games. An announcement trailer for the game was shown off at last night’s State of Play . The trailer featured familiar platforming gameplay with new twists, bosses and environments.



The upcoming game will add more than 15 new abilities for Astro and over 70 new types of enemies. The trailer also revealed that Astro Bot will release on September 6, 2024 , with pre-orders opening in a week. Astro’s last appearance in a game was in 2020, which instantly turned him into the symbol of PS5 that players recognise today.
