Outlander's Jenny Murray will be in the second part of season seven, with another star stepping into the role. Jamie Fraser's (played by Sam Heughan) older sister Jenny Murray (Laura Donnelly) was a pivotal character in the Starz drama for the first three seasons of Outlander. In the third season, Jenny with Jamie for America after her husband Ian Murray (Steven Cree) passed away, believing there was no longer a reason to stay in Lallybroch.

Fans were unaware at the time that this would be the last time they would see Laura Donnelly in the role, as she hasn't appeared since. With the news that Jenny is set to return but not Donnelly, many are wondering why, reports . Laura Donnelly left the romantic drama Outlander due to various other commitments.



She was performing The Ferryman on Broadway at the time and was expecting her second child. The decision not to bring Donnelly back as Jenny wasn't due to a lack of effort, as the executive producer told Entertainment Weekly in 2018. She explained: "We had every intention of having a Brianna and Jenny [moment] but we waited and we kept dragging our feet, quite honestly, because we thought we could convince her and the schedules would change.

" "We could move our schedule and accommodate her but at the end of the day, it just didn't work out so we scrambled to come up with another story." Donnelly herself also hinted that a return was unlikely, stating "I think that's probably me out" as she believed her character Jenny would be too .
