fans have been on hand to help each other as they missed the punchline of a joke. The classic sitcom is still popular to this day, despite the last ever episode airing in 2003. And as time goes on, some of the jokes or funny scenes don't quite land, as the meaning becomes unclear.
In the first episode of series three, which originally aired on November 10, 1983, Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) is making a list of crimes to present to the Tenants' Association. He plans to ask why the police never come anywhere near them, and also about the out-of-service lifts. But he can't think of too many, just noting down a stolen shopping trolley.
But Del Boy (David Jason) soon comes in with a suggestion – and it's this that left some fans confused. He says: "Why don't you tell them what happened to poor Rita Aldridge then." Rodney notes it down and then asks what did happen to her.
Del Boy goes on: "Last Friday night she was indecently assaulted over by the adventure playground. I saw her , she'd just been down the police station." A confused Rodney then asks: "Hold on a minute, if this happened on Friday night how come it's taken her 'til Wednesday to report it?" Del then says: "Because, she didn't know she'd been indecently assaulted until this morning when the bloke's cheque bounced!" As the laughter track plays, Rodney rips the page out of his notebook and chucks it on the floor.
Over on Reddit's Only Fools And Horses community, one fan asked for "help" in understanding the tongue-in-c.
