Dramatic new legal thriller: One new series off to a hot start has been Presumed Innocent , an Apple TV+ series based on Scott Turow’s 1987 legal thriller, which also inspired the Harrison Ford film of the same name. This time, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role, playing a Chicago prosecutor who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his former mistress. David E.



Kelley, the prolific creative force behind L.A. Law , Ally McBeal , and Big Little Lies , is deploying his signature polished soapiness to create a series that will be eyeing next year’s Emmys.

Well-rounded slate: The summer offers more to watch as well, including the just-wrapped series Bridgerton , the Netflix smash hit that wrapped up its third season earlier this month, and Prime Video’s The Boys . Still to come this summer is a period Apple TV+ series starring Natalie Portman, a Peacock Roman gladiator series featuring Anthony Hopkins, and the second season of Apple’s critically acclaimed drama Pachinko .
