It’s based on Andrew Michael Hurley’s 2019 novel of the same name. It’s being distributed by Brainstorm Media, having had a successful festival run. When their son starts acting strangely, a couple (Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark) unwittingly allow dark and sinister forces into their home.
This awakens a long-dormant ancient evil rooted deep in rural Yorkshire during the 1970s. The film also stars Erin Richards, Sean Gilder, Robert Emms, Roger Barclay, and Maltilda Firth. It’s produced by Tessa Ross, Juliette Howell, Derrin Schlesinger, and Emma Duffy.
Matt Smith is currently starring in the second season of House of the Dragon. will soon return as a young Galadriel in Prime Video’s Rings of Power series. Starve Acre will be released in theaters and on-demand on July 26, 2024.
