A NEW $20billion (£16.3billion) beachfront resort attraction is set to open in Egypt. The new SouthMED project is to become a "global destination on the southern Mediterranean".

Set along the North Coast shoreline, the attraction will stretch across 23millon square metres, with six zones. This includes 2,000 hotel rooms, as well as a huge lagoon-front villas.
A large international marina will welcome both small boats and larger yachts. Entertainment facilities will include 18-hole golf courses, sports centres and shopping centres with dining areas. Tourists can also make the most of the 8km beach, with lagoons to swim in as well.
