Veteran actor Nana Patekar has made his debut as a lyricist for the Marathi music album named Nana Chhand. The launch for the same took place last night in Mumbai amidst the presence of a number of dignitaries from the Marathi movie and music world. The occasion was also a celebration of 25 years of Sagarika Music, the label that has come up with Nana Chhand.
Nana Patekar on making debut as a lyricist, “I am from JJ School of Arts, I know how to transform pictures into words” During the event, when Patekar was asked how he turned into a lyricist at this stage of his career, he said, “Once we move away from the city and start living near a farm, we get a lot of thoughts. Not as a song or poetry but the sights of nature we see in front of us, we copy them on paper. As I am from JJ School of Arts, I know how to transform those pictures into words.
So, I tried doing that. It’s conducive to do this sitting among the farms. Else, staying here among the four walls, you can’t manage that.
” Sharing his process of writing lyrics and what it means to him, Patekar added, “It’s actually something you have hidden inside, and you copy that on paper. Fortunately for us actors, the things that are stored inside, we portray (on screen), whether it is happiness or sadness. After watching it, you feel, ‘Wow, what amazing acting this is.
’ Actually, we are just selling our feelings. The same goes for poetry. You portray all that’s stored inside you.
