After 24 years, we largely know what to expect on the Detroit waterfront each Memorial Day weekend. And the beats will go on once again as the Movement Music Festival takes over Hart Plaza for three days of uninterrupted electronic dance music. Produced by the Detroit promotion firm Paxahau, this year’s event features more than 115 acts on six stages from Saturday through Monday (May 25-27) — and that’s not counting Pop-Up Stage performances in the VIP Area or myriad after-parties taking place at the Majestic Theatre complex and elsewhere throughout the festival run.

Highlights this year include appearances by Fatboy Slim, Richie Hawtin and Drum n Bass luminary Goldie, the latter celebrating the 30th anniversary of his Metalheadz Records label with two performances on Monday, May 27. Kevin Saunderson, one of the famed Belleville Three techno innovators, teams up with British actor Idris Elba for a collaborative set on Sunday, May 26, while fellow Detroiter Carl Craig brings hosts his annual Detroit Love revue on Saturday, May 25. Movement also will feature performances by a variety of rappers, including Ludacris and Detroit’s Tee Grizzley.

Tickets, schedules and other festival details, including the after-parties (and pre-parties on Friday, May 24) can be found at movementfestival.com ..
