Usually the pro wrestler sports his rock-like, muscular physique and bald head, but with neither on show we hardly knew it was Dwayne behind those luscious curls.
Rather than a personal image overhaul, Dwayne’s surprising new look is actually a costume for his new movie The Smashing Machine, which he is filming in Vancouver, Canada . He also wore golden aviator sunglasses, and is even reportedly sporting a prosthetic nose for the part. In the flick – also starring Emily Blunt – the Rock plays MMA legend Mark Kerr , who shot to fame in the 1990s.
The Smashing Machine is also the title of a 2002 documentary, which tells the story of Kerr’s professional and personal life. Benny Safdie’s dramatisation of Kerr’s life is set to be released next year, and will delve into his struggles with addiction and his marriage to wife Dawn Staples (Blunt) as he rose to fame and MMA glory. Discussing the film – and director Benny, whose titles include Uncut Gems and Good Time, while he also starred in Oppenheimer – Dwayne previously told Variety why he was drawn to the role.
