Horror Maestro Mike Flanagan’s reimagined film will hit theaters on March 13, 2026, Universal announced Tuesday. Put another way, this isn’t the devil you think you know. Blumhouse and Morgan Creek’s plans for a trilogy of new films was derailed with the poor and polarizing , directed by David Gordon Green.
Flanagan, whose credits include , , , and the new has created an entirely new narrative nightmare that is not a sequel to any previous film and that charts a new course for the film franchise. The film will be produced by Flanagan’s longtime collaborative producer Trevor Macy ( , ) for Intrepid Pictures, by Flanagan for his Red Room Pictures, and by Jason Blum ( , ) for Blumhouse. This film will mark Flanagan’s fourth Blumhouse film.
His previous Blumhouse titles were , and , which were all also produced by Macy. When , based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released in 1973, it changed culture forever and became the first horror film ever nominated for best picture.
