The auteur behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises has accumulated an immense fortune of US$10 billion over the years, according to Celebrity Net Worth – in no small part thanks to the fact that he sold his Lucasfilm production company to Disney for US$4.1 billion in 2012.

The award was presented by legendary filmmaker and Lucas’ lifelong pal Francis Ford Coppola. According to People magazine, Lucas said of the award that “it’s always great to be recognised”.
