McDonald's customers are kicking off after the takeaway giant ran out of a fan-favourite menu item due to supply chain complications. The international fast-food firm confirmed that patrons might experience difficulty getting their hands on a sugar donut after its inventory was depleted. Currently, this sweet indulgence is inaccessible for purchase via MyMcDonald's app.

The unsettling information was confirmed via the terms and conditions of McDonald's forthcoming Surprize Fried game published on their website, which is scheduled to debut this month. Surprize Fries will operate for a five week stretch, wrapping up on July 2. The game allows customers the opportunity to bag prizes by peeling off stickers on these packs of medium or large fries.

A representative from McDonald's reassured that they were liaising with their suppliers to bring back this item onto the menu "as soon as possible". They further added: "Any Surprize Fries players that win a sugar donut will receive an apple pie instead until the issue is resolved." McDonald's has yet to disclose when the sugar donut would mak.
