Australian reality TV sensation Cameron Merchant has candidly shared his harrowing ordeal with 'Bali belly' during a recent holiday. The Married At First Sight Australia alum took to Instagram to recount the "rough" 24 hours he endured after being struck down by the illness in Bali.
The 40-year-old had flown out to the tropical paradise for a mate's wedding but was soon battling severe discomfort. He detailed in an Instagram Story: "Bali belly strikes. Turn of events, up from 2:30am in a world of hurt and depleted of everything within me.
" Cameron disclosed that he ended up on a drip to combat dehydration caused by relentless sickness. Despite the setback, he managed to keep his spirits up, albeit with a hint of sarcasm about his predicament. He continued: "Well this is fun.
.. Not such a moment of joy.
The cold shivers, the shakes, the hot sweats...
make up your mind Bali belly, which one is it? One depleted human right here, right now." Thankfully, the reality star updated fans the following day, showing off his recovery meal of a simple banana and buttered toast after fasting for 36 hours. "First meal in over 36 hours.
.. What a treat!" he quipped, soaking up some sun beside a pool.
In gratitude, Cameron praised the hotel staff in Bali for their care through several Instagram Stories. He wrapped up his eventful trip with news of his return to Sydney, eager to be back wit.
