RTE will be making a major schedule shake-up with radio shows and TV programmes interrupted across TWO days for special live broadcasting. The station will be broadcasting the UK General Election results across their digital, TV and radio platforms from July 4 to July 5. As ballot boxes open for UK voters, RTE viewers will be able to follow all the results on RTE's dedicated TV and radio elections results programming, alongside their digital platforms.
The broadcaster will have live coverage from London , Belfast, Craigavon, Magherafelt and Dublin with in-depth analysis from our correspondents and journalists on what the results mean for the UK and their impact on Ireland. New London Correspondent Tommy Meskill will be joined by RTE News’ Fiona Mitchell reporting live from the UK capital, with RTE’s Northern Editor Vincent Kearney and Northern Correspondent Conor Macauley reporting on the overall impact of results across Northern Ireland. RTE One will start their election coverage on Prime Time at 9.
35pm on July 4 with a whistle stop tour of the UK, travelling from Scotland to London to show the issues in this election. Prime Time will run for an extended show period till 11pm as opposed to 10.15pm.
On RTE Radio One at 9.45pm there will be a Special Election programme featuring comprehensive coverage of the election count in Britain and Northern Ireland. This will take over John Creedon's usual 8pm-10pm show on the radio station.
