This week, Louis Vuitton took over Barcelona for the much-awaited Cruise 2025 show. Surrounded by dreamy candlelights and blooms, guests convened at La Fábrica, a cement factory that was converted to offices of the revered architect Ricardo Bofill in the 1970s.

Hosting its Cruise shows in outstanding architectural marvels has long been a tradition for Louis Vuitton, with some of the previous destinations including the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro by Oscar Niemeyer, and the brutalist Salk Institute in San Diego. This time around, the fashion house dialed up the whimsicality factor, by showcasing its latest collection in Barcelona’s Park Güell, an architectural gem by Antoni Gaudí, which was completed in 1914. On the runway, the collection drew inspiration from its hosting country, especially from its passionate attitude. This influence was mainly felt in elements such as black and white polka dot fabrics borrowed from the dress of a flamenco dancer, black lace, and even trousers printed with the pattern tiles of Gaudí – all topped with Spanish sombre.
