Jade Thirlwall has responded to rumours she has hit out at former manager Simon Cowell in her debut single. The Little Mix star launched her own music career following the break up of the band in 2022. She has been teasing her latest project in recent months and has become the final Little Mix band member to launch their solo career.

Angel of My Dreams marks Jade's first solo single since she rose to fame as a contestant on the X Factor in 2011. She was part of the girl group with Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jesy Nelson during the ITV series. Many fans think Jade has hit out at X Factor boss Simon Cowell in her new track following leaked reports about her song and music video.

It has been claimed the video shows Jade as a young girl trying to find fame while a mystery man smoking a cigar controls the music industry. The track also features a telling line: "Sold my soul to a psycho." It appears to be a reference to Simon’s now-defunct record label SyCo, which Little Mix quit in 2018.

Responding to the rumours, Jade told Beat Juice : "It’s not specifically about that. But I wanted the song to be my journey, from entering the music business to now, and what that felt like. "That’s why the song feels so chaotic.

The opening is like the music to that montage bit on The X Factor after you’ve won and you’re just catapulted into the industry." Opening up on writing the track, Jade explained how she found the industry "fickle" after the head of her label announced.
