'Little Hearts,' as the trailer suggested, is a family-centric film exploring relationships; and with a talented cast including Shane Nigam, Baburaj, Mahima Nambiar, Jaffar Idukki, Shine Tom Chacko, and Renji Panicker; hence, expectations were high. Directors Anto Jose Pereira and Aby Treesa Paul have attempted to incorporate numerous elements, but the result lacks cohesion. The film falls short due to its inconsistent writing.
The movie centres on Sibi (Shane Nigam), a young man who lives with his father, Baby (Baburaj). They both work on an estate owned by Baby's friend, Johnson (Renji Panicker). Shine Tom Chacko and Mahima Nambiar play Johnson's children.
The film primarily explores their relationships, focusing on three love stories: one between Sibi and Mahima, another between Baby and Ramya Suvi (who plays an estranged wife in the movie), and a homosexual relationship. However, none of these stories have a solid foundation or are properly developed. Shane's character in the movie might remind you of Fahadh Faasil's roles in films like 'Njan Prakashan' or 'Oru Indian Pranayakadha,' where he plays a jack-of-all-trades in a village.
However, unlike Fahadh's roles, Shane's character doesn't quite hit the mark, as his true personality remains unclear. Baburaj's character is the only well-developed one. He's a simple man who loves his son and enjoys making reels.
His love story is the only one in the film that feels complete, with a clear beginning and end. The LGBTQ+ themes .
