Lisa Riley left members of the audience in tears as she paid tribute to her close pal Robin Windsor at the award ceremony. Rylan Clark, David Tennant and Marc Almond were among the huge winners at the 2024 British LGBT Awards in London Friday evening as Strictly Come Dancing star Robin was remembered in a touching tribute by Emmerdale's Lisa. The event – which was the 10th anniversary of the awards – was hosted by British comedy legend Julian Clary.

He opened the event with an inspired monologue, as business leaders and organisations with a record of promoting LGBTQ+ people and policies as well as equality and diversity were honoured. There was a standing ovation as the family of the late Strictly star Robin, who died in February, accepted a Posthumous Award for the much-loved performer and mental health champion. His Strictly partner and Emmerdale favourite Lisa, who stars as Mandy Dingle in the ITV soap, delivered a touching monologue, leaving many in the room in tears.

Robin's death at the age of 44 in February sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and celebrities. The Strictly legend was remembered as a 'nurturing soul' who 'lit up any room he walked into'. Meanwhile, a star-studded crowd including Emma Willis – who reunited with former Big Brother contestant Rylan to present his Celebrity of the Year award – Russell Tovey, Pixie Lott, Adele Roberts, Katherine Ryan and Nicola Adams were in attendance.

Dr. Who icon David Tennant won the LGBT+ Celebrity Ally awar.
