It’s been a difficult few months for Britain’s royal family as both King Charles and the Princess of Wales ( formerly known as Kate Middleton ) were diagnosed with cancer after undergoing surgical procedures earlier in the year. Just before the annual Trooping the Colour on June 15 to mark the monarch’s birthday took place, Kate announced that although she “wasn’t out of the woods yet” she would be attending the event. On Instagram , she wrote: “I’m looking forward to attending the king’s birthday parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer.

But equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet. The king attended the event as well but there were few changes for him under his doctor’s advice. Given all it took for everything to come together this year had the king emotional, according to a professional lip reader who is revealing the comments Charles made to his wife, Queen Camilla ( formerly Camilla Parker Bowles ).



Change to how King Charles arrived at the 2024 ceremony In May, it was announced that King Charles would likely be attending Trooping the Colour in a carriage instead of on horseback like he did the year before. At the time, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson told The Times that “forthcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary” as the king continues to recover from cancer. It’s believed that doctors ultimately advised Charles to conduct the Trooping the Colour review from the Ascot Landau.
