Daily Mirror Columnist Linda Nolan has paid tribute to Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty - calling her a great "inspiration" and praising her "courage" and "transparency" that reminded others they was "not alone". Heathers actress Shannen passed away aged 53 on Saturday, a year after learning her stage 4 secondary breast cancer had spread to her brain and bones. For Linda, whose own secondary breast cancer has also spread to her brain , it was the actress's determination to share her cancer story on social media and her podcast, that really made her a personal hero.

With her book and Daily Mirror column, Linda, 65, has also been sharing the warts-and-all reality of secondary breast cancer as, like Shannen, she believes it's important to have frank, no-holds-barred conversations, to share the good, the bad and the bizarre of of their new realities, and to do her best to drive home the message about mammograms and checks. Now after hearing the tragic news of Shannen's passing, Linda wants to do her bit to continue the Charmed star's work.
