Liam Gallagher was reunited with Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs for a triumphant start to his Definitely Maybe Anniversary tour. The pair delighted fans at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield with a host of hits from the 1994 album as well as some rare B-sides. The stage was also filled with references to the Definitely Maybe album sleeve including a giant globe, green plants, a supersized Burt Bacarach gatefold album and giant white birds.

After the gig, Liam said on X, formerly twitter: "Sheffield you was and always will be BIBLICAL go easy you mad heads LG." And Bonehead added simply: "Thank you Sheffield." Liam Gallagher opened the Definitely Maybe tour in Sheffield Fans of Oasis have been hoping the band - including songwriter Noel Gallagher - would reunite this year for the 30th anniversary of debut album Definitely Maybe.



But it hasn't happened and instead Noel's brother Liam is playing songs from the album as well as some B sides rarely performed. Noel left Oasis in August 2009, saying he could no longer work with his younger brother Liam following a series of fights. The Gallagher brothers' last live gig together was in Paris in 2009.

Formed in Manchester in 1991, Oasis had eight number one singles including Some Might Say and Don't Look Back In Anger. At their peak they played two legendary gigs at Knebworth to 250,000 fans. The debut album Definitely Maybe was an immediate critical and commercial success in the United Kingdom after being released on August 29, .
